Structure "Le Chiuse"
The historical residence of Le Chiuse was built in 1840 and restored in the 1990s as an agriturismo center with three apartments. Located on the slopes of Montalcino, surrounded by vineyards, it affords sweeping views over the rolling hills of Tuscany. The location is ideal as a base for visiting Montalcino and neighboring villages of the Val d’Orcia area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The apartments, restored in a rustic Tuscan style, are independent with private kitchens (no restaurant service), baths with showers, fireplaces, air conditioning, WiFi internet and free parking. A swimming pool on the property is the focus of an outdoor area where guests can relax and enjoy the views. Also available are a bocce court, ping pong table and a barbecue grill with picnic tables. Guests can relax in in a spacious area with books, tv, music, a pool table, dartboard, an ice machine and other amenties. On request, wines can be tasted by the glass. There is a laundry room with a washer and dryer (for a fee) and ironing board.
Le Chiuse is a 10-minute drive from Montalcino, or a 40-minute hike on a steep but panoramic trail that follows a section of the ancient Via Francigena used in the Middle Ages by pilgrims travelling from Northen Europe to Rome.
